Vripack 69 Expedition Trawler

Full Description

Vripack have been drawing serious steel motor yachts since 1961, and their name on a set of lines carries weight for good reason. This 69 was built to their design in 2004 by Kim's Yacht Company, and she is exactly what the label suggests, an expedition trawler with the range and the structure to cross oceans rather than merely look as though she could. The numbers make the case. Twenty-one metres, 85 tonnes, a round-bilged steel hull on a long keel with an aluminium superstructure above, four watertight compartments, and CE Category A certification, which is the ocean rating. She carries 14,700 litres of fuel, 10,640 across three main tanks with a further 4,060 in a pair of day tanks, and at a seven-knot cruise burning 25 litres an hour that gives her a range of 3,700 nautical miles. That is transatlantic territory with a reserve in hand, and it is the single most important number on this specification. Underway she is a proper passage maker. Twin Caterpillar 3306B diesels of 235hp each, Koopnautic fin stabilisers, hydraulic steering with a Kobelt joystick, and a raised pilothouse with a settee, a captain's chair and a full navigation area, so watches can be stood in comfort. The mast lowers hydraulically, dropping her air draft from 10.5 metres to 6.75, which opens up the European canal networks on the way to the sea. Below, three double cabins each with en suite heads, and forward a genuinely separate crew cabin with its own bathroom, which is what makes short-handed and crewed operation equally workable. The interior is American cherry over wood floors, the galley is U-shaped with Corian worktops and a full domestic fit-out down to the dishwasher and ice maker, and the deck saloon has a leather L-shaped settee and an open bar. Above that sits a hardtop-covered entertainment deck with its own bar, alfresco dining table and sunbathing area. She has been kept up rather than left to age. Central heating and the 4,500 litre a day watermaker went in during 2022, along with new stainless propeller shafts. Batteries, the twelve-man life raft and the tender with its Yamaha 40 were all renewed in 2023, the hydraulic deck crane in 2019, and the generator batteries as recently as 2025. She lies in Greece.
