Full Description

Ge-Jo is a Luxe Motor 22, also known as the Dutch Traveller 22, designed by Van der Meijden Maritiem. Her steel hull was built in 2004 at the Santierul Naval Orsova yard in Romania and finished in the Netherlands at the end of 2008, and she has the long, low, dark-hulled look of a traditional Luxe Motor with the insulation and systems of a modern home. She is 22 metres by 4.95, draws 1.20 metres and needs just 3.20 metres of air draft with her radar arch and mast lowered. That beam sits just inside the 5.05 metre Freycinet gauge, so on paper a big slice of France's smaller canals is open to her, alongside the Dutch and Belgian waterways. Her layout is refreshingly no-nonsense and finds a lot of space in a boat her size. The saloon is large and open, with big windows down both sides, the galley and dining area are open plan around the wood stove, and there are three separate cabins: an owner's cabin with a French bed, a guest cabin with bunks and a single crew cabin, plus a dinette that converts for extra guests. Headroom is 2.10 metres, rising to 2.20 in the saloon, and the beds in all three cabins are 2.10 metres long. One shared bathroom with a shower serves them all. She is built to be lived aboard through a Dutch winter, which makes her an ideal first step into life afloat. Kabola central heating, a wood stove and three electric kick-space heaters sit inside a steel shell lined with 30mm of polyurethane foam and fitted with double glazing. 3,000 litres of fresh water, separate 750 litre black and grey tanks and 5,000 litres of diesel give her real independence, and the electrics are set up for living rather than weekending: a 2024 bank of twelve 1,000Ah Mastervolt gel cells, four 435W solar panels, two Victron 3,000W inverter-chargers, a second alternator and a 20kVA generator. Power comes from a Mercedes-Benz OM402 V8 of 250hp, fitted in 2006 and showing 425 hours, on a single shaft through a Twin Disc gearbox, with a 30hp bow thruster and joystick steering for locks and tight marinas. Spud poles fore and aft, each with a camera, let her hold position in shallow water without anchoring. Her hull and superstructure were painted in 2026. She lies in the Netherlands.
