Classic 1991 Moonen 56, steel throughout, from the Dutch yard now known for superyachts. Twin John Deere diesels new in 2018 with just 65 hours, Naiad stabilisers, bow and stern thrusters, three cabins, a full bath and year-round heating. Lying in the Netherlands.
Moonen are best known today for their superyachts, but the Dutch yard made its name building long-range steel motor yachts, and Contentus III comes from that earlier chapter. She is a 1991 Moonen 56, 17.80 metres overall on a 4.75 metre beam with a 1.60 metre draft, and she is steel throughout: hull, superstructure and deck, with teak laid over the decks. The white, high-sided hull with its blue stripe and long rectangular windows gives her a timeless look, and she is in great condition and ready to go. The biggest question on any boat of her age has already been answered. In 2018 she was fitted with two new John Deere 4045 AFM85 diesels of 180hp each, and they have run just 65 hours since. They are freshwater-cooled through heat exchangers and turn fixed propellers on shafts through PRM gearboxes and Aquadrive thrust bearings, giving a maximum of 8.5 knots from her round-bilged displacement hull, which has a full keel and twin rudders. Naiad Multisea II stabilisers damp the roll at sea, and hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, run from their own dedicated generator, make tight marinas straightforward. She is built for long stays aboard. The deck saloon, with its dinette, teak joinery and sliding door to the aft deck, is the heart of her, and the galley has granite worktops, a Neff cooker, a Siemens dishwasher, a fridge and a separate freezer, with a washing machine alongside. The owner's double is served by a main bathroom with a full bath, a rare thing on a boat of this size, while the guest double has its own shower and toilet and a third cabin has L-shaped bunks, giving six berths in all. Webasto central heating and Frigoboat air conditioning make her a year-round home, and her electrics are set up for time away from the dock, with a 748Ah bank of Mastervolt cells, a 4kW Mastervolt inverter-charger and a Fisher Panda generator. Up top, the flybridge has a second helm, a deck crane launches the Carib tender, and the mast lowers electrically for low bridges. About 1,500 litres of fresh water and 2,800 litres of fuel complete the picture. She lies at the sales office in the Netherlands.
