Full Description

Tern is a Lochin 33 wheelhouse cruiser (circa 1990) built by Lochin Marine International to a Robert Tucker design. GRP hull and superstructure with semi-displacement form and a stainless skeg-hung rudder. Powered by a single John Deere turbo diesel producing approx 270hp, with single lever control, trim tabs and bow thruster. Reported cruise 10–12 knots, max around 15 knots, and approx 15L/hr at cruise. 700L aluminium fuel tank gives a claimed range of about 460nm at 10 knots. Recent electronics include Raymarine chart plotter and AIS (2025). Price: €39,927 / £34,950 / $47,158 (EUR & USD approximate, based on mid-market rates).

CONSTRUCTION

Built circa 1990 by Lochin Marine International to a design by Robert Tucker. GRP hull and superstructure with semi-displacement form. Painted non-slip decks. Stainless steel handrails and boarding ladder. Stainless steel davits aft. Stainless steel radar arch with VHF antennas and radar reflectors. Stainless steel skeg-hung rudder.

MACHINERY

Single John Deere turbo diesel producing approximately 270hp, indirectly cooled via heat exchanger, driving a five-blade bronze propeller. Single-lever engine controls at the helm. Reported maximum speed approx 15 knots with a comfortable cruise of 10–12 knots and approx 15 litres per hour consumption. Engine hours stated as approximately 1450; serviced April 2025. 700 litre aluminium fuel tank. Bow thruster, electric anchor windlass and trim tabs with controls at the helm.

ELECTRICS

Two 12V domestic batteries (2025) and one 12V engine start battery (2025). Charging via engine alternator and shore power. 240V ring main.

Raymarine chart plotter (2025). Raymarine AIS (2025). Raymarine autopilot. NASA Target2 depth sounder. Navman 710 VHF/DSC. Airguide compass.

ACCOMODATION

Forward cabin with V-berth and infill, hanging stowage, LED reading lights and deck hatch for light/ventilation. Galley to port with two-burner gas hob, large fridge and stainless sink with hot and cold pressurised water. Dinette to starboard with seating around the table converting to a double berth. Heads to port with electric sea toilet, vanity and stowage. Wheelhouse offers good all-round visibility with helm to starboard; insulated engine space under the sole with access for servicing. Cockpit has fixed seating with cushions in a C-shape and a large lazarette for storage.

DECK

Bruce-type anchor with 25m chain. Electric windlass with remote control. Cockpit enclosure (2023). Stainless steel boarding ladder. Stainless steel davits. Stainless steel mooring bollards with fairleads. Assorted warps and fenders.
