In an industry brimming with luxury and lavish details, TARA is an explorer yacht that leans into a refreshing practicality without skimping on style. Built with functionality at the fore, TARA is an explorer yacht designed to be easily operated by an owner—free of the usual pomp but packed with performance and efficiency. TARA now comes with an added allure: a recent price reduction, making this purpose-driven vessel even more enticing for those seeking adventure without compromise.

Let's start with her origins. TARA's naval architecture is the work of Ulf Rogeberg, a name recognised for his innovative Deerfoot designs, which first showcased the advantages of a canoe-body hull shape. This efficient, easily driven form became a hallmark of Rogeberg's sailing yachts, which often outpaced larger vessels with simpler, more manageable rigs. In TARA, Rogeberg brings that same efficiency to motorised cruising. Two modestly powered 150 HP diesel engines push her along at a cruising speed of 9.5 knots, sipping only 3.5 gallons per hour. That frugality gives her astounding range—think Caribbean to Maine in one go at a slightly slower 8-knot clip. TARA presents a tantalising proposition for the ecologically conscious, as she is truly among the most efficient explorer yachts of her size.

Step inside, and you'll find TARA's no-fuss ethos reflected in her clean, classic interior. She sports a Herreshoff-style finish, where mahogany trims complement white panels and headliners, creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere. Large windows let natural light flood in, adding to the airiness created by TARA's generous headroom throughout. Sisal carpets enhance the comfort underfoot, all in a timeless, uncluttered aesthetic.

Built to last, TARA's hull and deck are made from foam-cored fibreglass, moulded by one of the most reputable composite yards in the United States. This is no ordinary hull; it's tough, weatherproof, and coated in durable Awlgrip paint. Her superstructure—a custom aluminium weldment—has been left unpainted for a natural look that is as close to maintenance-free as you'll find on the water. While no vessel is entirely maintenance-free, TARA certainly pushes the boundaries with its rugged yet refined design.

With five cabins, TARA offers ample accommodation for guests and crew. The full-beam owner's quarters aft feature a centreline queen bed and ensuite facilities, while two guest cabins amidships provide upper and lower berths, sharing a conveniently located day head. Common spaces are thoughtfully split between two levels: the upper salon, an open-plan area housing the helm station, control panels, and a raised dinette, and the lower salon, which combines a fully equipped galley with an L-shaped lounge and dining area. Forward, two additional ensuite cabins bring the total sleeping capacity up to eight guests and two crew.

For those who enjoy the view from above, TARA's flybridge offers prime sightlines from the upper helm station. There's ample room to convert this area into an enclosed, climate-controlled space. On the aft deck, a sheltered cockpit with angled seating provides a comfortable outdoor lounging area that remains protected from the elements—ideal for kicking back after a day of exploration.

In terms of specifications, TARA is a 70-foot (21.34m) powerhouse by Ocean Voyager, launched in 2021 with a beam of 18'6" (5.64m) and a draft of 5'6" (1.68m). She cruises comfortably at 9 knots, with a maximum speed of 12 knots. With just 100 hours on her main engines and 130 on her generator, her machinery is barely broken in. She also has fin stabilisation and a keel for enhanced stability, adding to her reliable cruising abilities. Notably, TARA's green credentials don't end with fuel efficiency; she also boasts an efficient solar array, marking her as one of the most eco-conscious vessels available in her category.

TARA stands out for her understated charm and proven capability in a world of flashy yachts. If you're searching for a truly unique explorer yacht that brings top-notch performance without the fuss, this vessel might be the ideal fit—now at an even better price.
